I almost didn’t post these photos today.

I looked at them and immediately thought, “Zach, look at the background. The bed is unmade. There are clothes on the mattress. There are shoes on the floor. It’s a mess.”
The old me would have scrapped them. I would have cleaned the room, set up the perfect lighting, and tried to curate a “Wellness Wednesday” aesthetic that looked like a magazine cover.
But the new me—the one who is enjoying this fresh start (and this fresh face)—decided to post them anyway.
Priorities Over Perfection
Here is the truth about wellness that Instagram doesn’t usually show you: Sometimes, wellness looks like choosing the workout over the laundry.
In these photos, you see two things:
A body that I consistently show up for.
A room that I… haven’t gotten around to yet.

And that is okay. Real wellness isn’t about having a perfectly curated life where every corner is tidy and every moment is Zen. Real wellness is the discipline to say, “I am going to take care of my physical health first, even if the rest of my life is a little chaotic right now.”
The “Check-In” Ritual
I’m loving the clean-shaven look for this exact reason—it feels like I stripped away a distraction. Without the beard, I see the face, the structure, the reality.
Taking these photos isn’t just vanity. It’s a check-in. It’s a moment to stand in the mess, flex the muscle, and remind myself that I am building something strong, regardless of what the background looks like.
Your Wednesday Permission Slip
So if your life feels a little messy today—if your sink is full of dishes or your inbox is overflowing—don’t let that stop you from doing something good for you.
Do the workout. Eat the good meal. Take the selfie.
The laundry can wait. Your health can’t.
