It’s Not Just About the Reps (But the Results Don’t Hurt)

Happy Wellness Wednesday, everyone!

Usually, when we talk about wellness, we get bogged down in the technical stuff: the meal prep, the split routines, the water intake, and the sleep tracking. And don’t get me wrong, all of that is the foundation. You don’t get results without the grind.

But today, I want to talk about the other side of wellness—the part that actually makes the grind worth it. The fun part.

I was hanging out with my good friend Jen today, and we decided to do a little “progress check.” As you can see, the hard work is definitely paying off. But honestly? The best part of the session wasn’t the flex; it was the fact that we couldn’t keep a straight face for more than five seconds.

The Social Side of Fitness
Jen explicitly told me, “We need to post this to make your followers jealous.” So, consider this your official notice: Are you jealous yet? 😉

Jokes aside, there is a massive wellness benefit to just letting your guard down. We spend so much time in “beast mode” or “focus mode” that we forget to just be goofy. Laughter decreases stress hormones and triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. So technically, goofing around on the couch with Jen is a form of pre-workout… or at least that’s what I’m telling myself.

Balancing the Grind
Looking at these photos, I’m proud of the physical progress. The core is looking tight, and I feel strong. But I’m just as happy about the vibe in the last photo—making ugly faces and not taking ourselves too seriously.

True wellness is a balance. It’s having the discipline to build the body you want, but also having the freedom to enjoy it with the people who hype you up (and poke fun at you while doing it).

So for this Wellness Wednesday, get your workout in. Drink your water. Eat your protein.

But also, find a friend who makes you laugh until your abs hurt—it’s basically a core workout anyway.
