If you’ve been following along with yesterday’s Thriving Thursday post, you know that Xander and I spent the day ditching our routines, escaping the city limits, and taking a completely aimless road trip.

Today is Fun/Focus Friday, and I want to focus on the aftermath of actually finding that hidden mountain swimming hole we were looking for. More specifically, I want to focus on the absolute hilarity of our friendship dynamic.
The Aesthetic Clash
They say opposites attract, and I don’t think there is a better visual representation of that than the two of us standing next to each other on the side of a mountain road.

I am out here supplying 100% pure, unfiltered Golden Retriever energy. Meanwhile, Xander is fully committed to the “brooding Black Cat” aesthetic, maintaining complete stoicism even when we’re just drying off after a swim.
Why You Need an “Opposite” Friend
It’s easy to surround yourself with an echo chamber of people who look, act, and think exactly like you do. But honestly? The most fun you can have is with the friends who completely contrast your vibe.

Xander grounds my chaotic energy, and I (hopefully) bring a little bit of ridiculousness into his day. Case in point: me aggressively trying to dry his hair with a purple towel while he mentally calculates how much longer he has to put up with me. He might roll his eyes, but we both know he secretly loves the road trip.
Your Friday Focus
As we head into the weekend, my challenge for you is to focus on the people in your life who let you be your most authentic, goofy self.
- Who is the person that balances out your energy?
- Are you the Golden Retriever or the Black Cat in your friend group?
Go plan a weekend road trip. Just make sure you bring a towel.
